Turkish Agents Have Charges Disappear After Savage Attack In DC
Several of the accused reportedly had their charges vanish a day before a top U.S. official visited the Turkish president.

WASHINGTON, DC -- In a shocking attack on U.S. citizens last May, members of Turkish President Recep Erdogan's security team were videotaped savagely beating protesters outside of the Turkish embassy in Washington, D.C. right in front of D.C. cops. And now, charges filed against 11 of 15 of the accused have been quietly dropped, according to a report.
The Daily Beast reported that four of the individuals were cleared back in November, and seven more had their charges vanish Feb. 14 -- the day before then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson flew to Ankara to speak with Erdogan, leading to speculation that the move was made to appease the Turkish president. Trump reportedly even apologized to Erdogan shortly after the attack, although the White House denied it.
The brutal attack (video is embedded below) resulted in nine people being sent to the hospital. The incident prompted outrage in the D.C. area and nationwide at the fact that a foreign government's security team apparently was allowed to attack U.S. citizens brazenly in front of cops without any repercussions.

Officials insisted that the charges weren't dropped for political reasons, the Daily Beast reported, but rather because investigators "had misidentified some of the suspects and failed to develop enough evidence against others."
In the video, D.C. police can be seen watching as men in suits kicked and punched protesters on the ground, intervening only occasionally to break up fights.
