WASHINGTON, DC — A Michigan woman who parked a Chevrolet Silverado in front of the U.S. Capitol Police headquarters Wednesday afternoon was arrested and charged with illegally possessing several guns in her truck, the U.S. Capitol Police said Thursday.

Kery Lynn McAttee, 58, told police officers that she had driven from Michigan and wanted to provide information to them that she had about the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

McAttee parked her pickup truck in a no-parking zone in front of Capitol Police headquarters at about 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

During that conversation, a Capitol Police officer spotted a gun case and the butt of a long gun in the Silverado. McAttee then confirmed there were firearms in her vehicle, the police said.

There is no evidence McAttee was coming to the U.S. Capitol area “to do anything, except speak with our officers,” the police added. “We cannot provide the details of that conversation because they are now part of an open investigation. She was not on file with the USCP.”

The Capitol Police said that along with ammunition, these firearms were confiscated from her truck: an unloaded Remington Nylon 66 .22 caliber rifle, an unloaded, Connecticut Valley Arms .50 caliber muzzle loader, loaded Mossberg .410 caliber shotgun and a Gamo pellet gun

McAttee was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of unregistered ammunition, unlawful possession/transportation of a semi-automatic rifle and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm misdemeanor, according to the police.

The Capitol Police said in an email to Patch Thursday that they do not know if the woman was booked into D.C. jail.
