1 Killed, 4 Injured In Florida A&M Shooting: Officials

A shelter-in-place order was issued following the shooting at the Tallahassee college, university officials said.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — One person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at an outdoor basketball court on the Florida A&M University campus, according to officials.

University authorities are working with Tallahassee police to investigate the shooting that happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the Hansel Tookes Recreation Center, FAMU officials said in a statement.

According to officials, an adult man was killed in the shooting. Four other victims — three adult men and one juvenile male — sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious, officials said.

None of the victims were FAMU students, officials said.

"I want to assure the FAMU community the shooting incident that occurred on campus is not an ongoing threat to the University," FAMU President Larry Robinson said in a statement. "The safety and security of our students and the campus is the highest priority."

A shelter-in-place order was issued following the shooting but has since been lifted, the university said.

No suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
