3 Children Killed In Florida Crash: Police

The crash occurred on the Interstate 95 bridge that separates Florida and Georgia, police said.

NASSAU COUNTY, FL — Three children were killed in a crash Saturday near the Florida-Georgia state line, according to police.

The incident occurred at 7:40 a.m. on southbound Interstate 95 and resulted in the deaths of a 10-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, police said.

A sedan occupied by four children and two adults from Bay Shore, New York, slowed or stopped in the center lane of the bridge that separates Florida and Georgia, and an SUV rear-ended the car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver of the sedan, a 24-year-old man, suffered serious injuries, and his two surviving passengers — a 14-year-old boy and a 47-year-old woman — were both critically wounded, police said. The SUV’s driver, a 23-year-old man from Apex, North Carolina, suffered minor injuries, according to police.
