Here’s Where Buc-ee’s Plans To Open 4 New FL Stores

As Buc-ee's focuses on expanding in "conservative, business-friendly states," the company is planning four new FL travel centers.

Buc-ee’s, a Texas-based travel center and gas station chain with a cult following and a cartoonish beaver for a mascot, has four new stores in the works in Florida.

The company already has two locations in the Sunshine State, both on Interstate 95 — one in Daytona Beach at 2330 Gateway North Drive, and the other in St. Augustine at 200 World Commerce Pkwy.

The mega gas station brand’s Florida fans will be excited to have four new places to pick up some Beaver Nuggets.

The company has plans for travel stations at the following locations, according to its website:

  • Fort Pierce, at I-95 and Indrio Road, with a targeted 2027 opening
  • Tallahassee, along the Interstate 10 corridor, with a targeted 2027 opening
  • Ocala, along the Interstate 75 corridor, with a targeted 2028 opening, and
  • Port Charlotte, at exit 170 off I-75

While the Buc-ee’s website simply says the Charlotte County store is “coming soon,” a report from WINK News says the 74,000 travel center with 120 fuel stations at 25599 Harborview Road “could be substantially completed by late 2029.”

The Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners approved the company’s final site plan in September, WINK reported. According to the county’s approved development schedule for the property, construction can begin now that the board has approved plans, and the project is slated “to be substantially completed before Sept. 8, 2029.”

The Fort Pierce location will be about 76,000 square feet with 120 fuel pumps and is expected to open by the end of 2027 or early 2028, the Miami New Times reported.

The project has cleared all local planning hurdles and is awaiting final approvals from the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection before construction can begin, the St. Lucie County Planning and Development Services Director Benjamin Balcer told CBS 12.

"As far as the county is concerned, their building permit and their site development permit is pretty much at the tail end and ready to go," Balcer said. "It's really just pulling the trigger on Buc-ee's end to start the process."

Plans for the Ocala Buc-ee’s on Northwest 35th Street have been delayed, and the travel center is now projected to open in 2029, WCJB said.

Meanwhile, the Tallahassee Buc-ee’s is moving forward, clearing key regulatory and environmental hurdles with approval by Leon County’s Development Review Committee in August, WTXL reported.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s currently has 58 locations across 14 states, including Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi and Alabama, according to the Roadtrip Beaver website.

The company’s leaders recently said that Buc-ee’s growth and expansion will target “conservative, business-friendly states.”

“We have a lot of opportunities. We’re growing. We’re building in a lot of places, but when you find a conservative, business-friendly state with a phenomenal workforce, it makes a difference,” CEO Arch Aplin III said, according to The Hill.

He added, “And I’m starting to realize life’s too short to try to build in places that people don’t appreciate what you’re bringing versus a place like this, where people do appreciate what you’re building.”
