Missing Girl, 4, Found Dead In Canal Behind FL Vacation Rental
Evelyn Geer was reported missing in Port Charlotte after she wandered away from the vacation rental where she and her family were staying.

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL — A 4-year-old girl is dead after her body was discovered in a Charlotte County canal several hours after her family reported her missing.
Evelyn Geer was reported missing from the Port Charlotte vacation rental home where she and her family were staying. According to police, the child wandered away from the home located on Barksdale Street wearing only a diaper.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission discovered Evelyn's body while searching by boat.

Charlotte County authorities searched for the little girl for several hours using aviation and K-9 units, according to police.
"Please keep the family in your prayers as they go through this unbearable time," the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
