⢠Crews battle 400-acre wildfire near State Road 26 in Alachua County (wcjb.com) ā Fire crews are still working to contain a 400-acre wildfire near State Road 26 and County Road 234 in Alachua County, which remains only 30% contained amid extreme drought. Officials urge residents to strictly follow the county burn ban and avoid everyday spark risks like yard burning, discarded cigarettes, or parking on dry grass as multiple agencies deploy dozers, aircraft, and mutual aid to hold the fire lines.

⢠Duke Energy Florida awards America250 grant to Keep Alachua County Beautiful (alachuachronicle.com) ā Keep Alachua County Beautiful has received a $2,500 Duke Energy Foundation grant to support local volunteer cleanups as part of the Great American Cleanup this spring. The funding will help tackle illegal dumping, spruce up public spaces, and promote better wasteāreduction habits across Alachua County communities, including the city of Alachua, by boosting neighborhood pride and longāterm environmental stewardship.
