2 Drivers Arrested After I-275 Crash In Manatee County: FL Troopers

One driver pulled a gun on the other, while the other driver was arrested for driving under the influence, FL troopers said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Both drivers were arrested — one for aggravated assault, the other for driving under the influence — after a crash on Interstate 275 in Manatee County led to an altercation on the highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Troopers responded to reports of a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck driving recklessly as it headed south on I-275 near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge rest stop just before 8:30 a.m.

After the truck’s driver, Gary Thompson, 50, sideswiped a Dodge Ram pick-up truck, both drivers pulled over and got out of their vehicles, FHP said.
