Missing Manatee Man Found Injured After Being Hit By SUV On I-75: Officials
An endangered man missing from Palmetto was hit by an SUV while crossing an I-75 exit ramp in the Sun City area, officials said.
SUN CITY, FL — An endangered man missing since Sunday in Manatee County was found injured Wednesday evening after being hit by an SUV along Interstate 75 near Sun City, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Nathaniel R. Modglin, 37, was reported missing after being last seen in the 14440 block of Harlee Road in Palmetto on Sunday at 1:37 p.m.
Surveillance footage from later that night showed him walking north in the 2000 block of U.S. 41 in Ruskin at 7:07 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Modglin left without his prescribed medication, which caused his family to worry that he might be disoriented.
A Buick Encore, driven by a 70-year-old Michigan man, was heading south on an I-75 exit ramp leading to State Road 674 around 6:35 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

A man, identified by the sheriff’s office as Modglin, was crossing at the bottom of the ramp when he walked into the SUV’s path and was hit by the vehicle, FHP said.
He was hospitalized with serious injuries.
