Price Tag for Florida Governor's Race Tops $150 Million

It's estimated to be the nation's most expensive.

The race for Florida’s governor’s mansion isn’t just too close to call, it’s also quite costly.

The overall price tag for the race between Republican Gov. Rick Scott and Democrat former Gov. Charlie Crist is anticipated to exceed $150 million, making it the nation’s most costly, according to The Tampa Tribune.

Scott has a spending advantage of $96 million to Crist’s $49 million, the paper points out. The Republican has even donated an estimated $12.8 million to his own cause.

The more than $100 million has been spent between the two on television advertising alone, the race between Crist and Scott remains tight.

The latest Quinnipiac University poll has Crist ahead of Scott by 43 percent to 40 percent. Independent challenger Adrian Wyllie has 9 percent of the vote, according to that poll released earlier this week.
