Teen’s Shooting Death: Bradenton Man Could Have New Info, Sheriff Says
Deputies are looking for a Bradenton man who might have info about a 15-year-old who was fatally shot on Thanksgiving, Manatee sheriff said.

BRADENTON, FL — Detectives are looking for a 25-year-old Bradenton man who might have additional information about the death of a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot on Thanksgiving, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release. The teen was shot during an armed robbery gone wrong.
While four teenagers were arrested and charged for their involvement in his death, deputies believe that Domingo Cortez could have more information about the case.
Those arrested and charged with felony murder include a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old.

Though the sheriff’s office has named the suspects, it is Patch's policy not to identify teens in the juvenile court system. It is not clear whether the teens have been charged as juveniles or adults.

An 18-year-old, Uriel Carrillo, was also charged with accessory to murder after the fact, a second-degree felony.
The teen was shot early Thanksgiving morning in the 1800 block of 28th Ave. E. A deputy heard gunshots just after midnight while patrolling the area, the sheriff’s office said. When he got to the shooting scene, he found evidence in the road and a witness told him that an unidentified man ran from the area.
Not long after this, investigators learned that a 15-year-old with a gunshot wound had been dropped off at Manatee Memorial Hospital. He later died from his injuries.
During their investigation, deputies identified and interviewed the murder suspects, who were at the scene the night of the shooting, MCSO said.
The 15-year-old victim appeared to have been shot in self-defense, though evidence shows the suspects were “engaged in a robbery at the time of a fatal shooting,” the sheriff’s office said. The teens were selling a gun when the robbery and ultimate shooting happened.
Anyone with information about Cortez is asked to contact Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Detective Chuck Butler at 941-747-3011 ext. 2551.
