• Cape Canaveral council rejects tax hike despite $4M budget deficit (clickorlando.com) — Cape Canaveral's city council has refused to raise the property tax rate despite a projected $4 million budget deficit and warnings from the city manager that services will be cut. Leaders now plan spending reductions and possible asset sales, while the Brevard County Sheriff's Office investigates the city's financial management and a statewide tax amendment looms in November.
   

• Cape Canaveral adds permit rules for fake grass (floridatoday.com) — Cape Canaveral homeowners with lots of one acre or less now must get a city permit before installing artificial turf, after the council approved new rules to oversee drainage and environmental impacts. The move responds to a 2025 state law limiting local turf bans, giving Cape Canaveral at least some control over how synthetic lawns are installed in the city.
