Toys 'R Us Meth-Toting 'Breaking Bad' Dolls Need to Go, Mom Says

She's started a petition to get the toys, complete with bags of cash and meth, pulled from stores.

A Florida mom’s efforts to get retailer Toys ‘R Us to pull “Breaking Bad” toys from its shelves is gaining steam.

Her petition campaign on Change.org has already collected more than 2,200 signatures while capturing national media attention in the process.

Susan Myers of Fort Myers calls the retailer’s decision to put the “Breaking Bad” toys on its shelves a “dangerous deviation from their family friendly values.”

The “Breaking Bad” collection includes characters from the hit AMC show, including Jesse Pinkman and Walter White. The show chronicles White’s quest to set his family up financially before cancer takes his life. White, a former high school chemistry teacher, turns to the drug trade to make his riches. The show focuses on his transformation from mild-mannered teacher to crystal meth-cooking drug kingpin “Heisenberg.”

One of the dolls in the collection comes complete with its own bag of cash and stash of meth. There’s even a Pinkman doll in a Hazmat suit, ready to cook the illegal substance.

The 6-inch action figures retail for $17.99 at Toys ‘R Us.

That, according to Myers’ petition, is unacceptable.

“Parents and grandparents around the world shop at Toys ‘R Us, online and in stories, with their children and should not be forced to explain why a certain toy comes with a bag of highly dangerous and illegal drugs or why someone who sells those drugs deserves to be made into an action figure,” the petition states.

Myers understands the show offers “compelling viewing for adults,” but says “its violent content and celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters.”
