(einpresswire.com) — Walton County is asking DeFuniak Springs residents to help shape future recreation fields and facilities at a public workshop on June 10 at the DeFuniak Springs Boardroom. Two earlier sessions in Freeport and Santa Rosa Beach offer additional chances for input, and residents are encouraged to attend and share their ideas.
   

• Man who stole excavator to rob ATM gets 11 months in jail (mypanhandle.com) — A DeFuniak Springs resident has been sentenced to 11 months in jail and three years of probation after using a stolen excavator in an attempted ATM theft at Regions Bank beside the local police department. DeFuniak Springs Police say surveillance video and an interview helped identify and secure the case against him.
   

• Remains of missing DeFuniak Springs man found after decade (wkrg.com) — A decade after a DeFuniak Springs man disappeared, his remains have been identified, bringing some closure for his family and neighbors. Investigators linked skeletal remains found on Eglin Air Force Base to John Thomas “JT” Watson through DNA testing funded by a state grant, after his car was discovered abandoned near the same area in 2015.
