Okaloosa County School Board names new Destin Elementary principal (thedestinlog.com) — Destin families will see a new face leading Destin Elementary, as the Okaloosa County School Board has unanimously approved longtime local educator Amy Morgan as principal. She succeeds Amy Meyer, who is moving to Niceville High School, and promises to build on Destin Elementary’s “school of excellence” legacy while overseeing the growing third- to fifth-grade wing. 
2. Indiana couple charged in Destin for theft, deputy assault (mypanhandle.com) — An Indiana couple faces charges tied to a retail theft case in Destin after deputies stopped a U-Haul near the Walmart on Emerald Coast Parkway. Investigators say they found suspected drugs, paraphernalia, and stolen goods, and report the pair also has multiple active warrants across Northwest Florida.
3. Famed ocean liner may become controversial underwater tourist attraction on Florida's Gulf Coast (nola.com) — Destin could soon gain a massive new underwater attraction, as Okaloosa County plans to sink the historic SS United States about 20 miles offshore and build a companion museum on Destin–Fort Walton Beach’s shoreline. Supporters see a world-class artificial reef and tourism boost, while veterans, preservationists, and environmental advocates are pushing back over historical loss and potential ecological risks.
4. Destin High flag football team falls one step short of state Final 4 (thedestinlog.com) — Destin sports fans can be proud of the Destin High School Sharks flag football team, which reached the Elite Eight in its first year of FHSAA playoff eligibility. Despite a tough 40-13 loss to Bolles in Jacksonville, the Sharks finished 12-6, highlighted by strong senior leadership and a promising core of returning players for next season.
