MDVIP Welcomes Drs. Pappas and Loudermilk to New Destin Practice

Accepting new patients, Drs. Pappas and Loudermilk bring personalized, preventive primary care to the Destin community

MDVIP is expanding its network along the Emerald Coast by welcoming family medicine physicians Dr. Chris G. Pappas, MD, FAAFP, and Dr. John E. Loudermilk, MD, FAAFP to their new practice located at 4608 Opa-Locka Lane Suite 300 in Destin, FL. The two physicians share a passion for proactive, preventative care, and are accepting new patients seeking enhanced communication and a closer relationship with their primary care physician.

Dr. Chris Pappas is a retired Colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps who proudly served the Nation for 28 years in a variety of clinical, leadership, and operational roles. Throughout his military career, he served as a staff family physician, battalion surgeon, flight surgeon, and medical educator at installations across the United States. He also supported numerous high-priority missions overseas, reflecting a deep commitment to service and patient care.

Pappas earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his internship at Fort Benning, Georgia, and his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington. He later completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he developed advanced expertise in musculoskeletal health and injury prevention. Today, he is happily based in Destin, Florida, with his wife, where they are active members of their church, Destiny Worship Center.

“My years of military service instilled in me a commitment to helping others overcome challenges and achieve their fullest potential,” said Dr. Pappas. “Today, that mission continues through medicine and our new MDVIP-affiliated practice in Destin. By working closely with my patients, I aim to help them prevent disease, make informed healthcare decisions, and embrace healthy habits that support long-term well-being. Through the MDVIP Wellness Program and a personalized approach to care, I look forward to helping patients add more years to their lives and more life to their years.”

A proud West Virginian, he earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Marshall University before completing his internship and residency at East Tennessee State University.

What began as a getaway to Destin during the pandemic became a permanent move just a few years later. Today, Dr. Loudermilk and his wife are raising their two high school-aged daughters while embracing the area's outdoor lifestyle and close-knit community. In addition to his primary care practice, Loudermilk serves as medical director of a local nursing home, where he brings the same patient-centered approach to caring for the area's senior population.

"The most rewarding part of practicing medicine is building lasting relationships with my patients," said Dr. Loudermilk. "By taking the time to understand each person's unique goals and priorities, I can provide more personalized care that focuses not only on treating illness, but on helping people stay healthy, active and independent for years to come."
