The four-course culinary experience, created by James Beard Award-winning Chef Allen Susser, will be paired with a selection of wines from the Bodegas Emilio Moro portfolio. The menu includes pan-roasted shrimp with Polvorete; wild mushroom crema de maiz with Bestizo Bierzo; grilled Wagyu skirt steak paired with Malleolus; and a dark chocolate tart with rosemary-infused raspberry compote.

Go with the flow under the glow of a full moon. On Tuesday, September 29, Shooters Waterfront is calling yogis to the water for a free Full Moon Yoga experience blending movement, mindfulness and live music along Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal.&nbsp;

Led by Elisa Buller, the waterfront yoga class invites guests to flow beneath the Harvest Moon as the vibrations of live drumming set the rhythm for an immersive evening of relaxation and reflection. Stretch, breathe and reset as the sun sets and the full moon rises over one of Fort Lauderdale’s most picturesque views.&nbsp;

Community-Based Connections, Inc. (CBCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering youth development, family strengthening, and community empowerment services to underserved populations, will recognize outstanding individuals and companies for their contributions to help improve the quality of life for local children and families during its fifth annual Green Blazer Awards Gala &amp; Celebration to be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (321 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd.). 
This year’s honorees are Kirk Brown, CEO of Handy; Carol Hylton, president and CEO of CareerSource Broward; Brian C. Johnson, founder of Community-Based Connections, Inc. and president and CEO of the Minority Builders Coalition; Newton Sanon, president and CEO of OIC of South Florida; FPL (Florida Power &amp; Light) and The GEO Group Foundation. 
The evening of celebration, hosted by Local 10 Anchor/Reporter Aaron Maybin, will include a cocktail reception, a seated three-course dinner with an open bar, live musical entertainment, dancing and the impactful awards ceremony, which includes the presentation of the branded green blazers. 
Proceeds from the event will benefit CBCI’s Awesome Dads Awesome Men (A.D.A.M.) fatherhood mentoring program, The Beacon of HOPE-Intact Family Navigation Program, Family Strengthening Program, and S.M.A.R.T. monitoring safety plans, as well as its vital initiatives such as Early Achievers at Markham Elementary, Young Believers, Club Elevate, Haven and Healing Space.

Looking for a quick, impactful way to volunteer in Miami? Join Everyday Advocates on Saturday, October 10 for a two-hour community cleanup and neighborhood inspection in Miami’s Historic Little Havana.
Working in small teams, volunteers will walk the neighborhood to pick up litter, identify basic safety hazards, and help keep our local streets clean and accessible.
<h3>What You’ll Be Doing</h3>
<ul><li>Clean Up Neighborhood Streets: Help pick up trash before it reaches local storm drains and waterways.</li><li>Report Safety &amp; Street Issues: Note everyday hazards like clogged storm drains, broken streetlights, or damaged sidewalks so they can be fixed by local agencies.</li><li>Friendly Team Challenges: Connect with fellow volunteers through quick, fun scavenger hunt prompts along the route!</li></ul>

Neighborhoods thrive when community members come together! Your two hours on the ground directly support Little Havana residents by beautifying neighborhood streets, keeping litter out of local storm drains, and making everyday walking safer and more accessible for local families.

To the Nines” Fundraiser at MAD Arts to Celebrate Creativity While Supporting Arts Education and South Florida Artists
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 6–10 p.m., Art Prevails Project will transform MAD Arts Museum, 481 S. Federal Highway in Dania Beach, into an immersive world of creativity for To the Nines, a fundraising experience supporting the organization’s year-round work through performance and education.
Inspired by the nine muses of Greek mythology, To the Nines invites guests to experience art rather than merely observe it. Throughout the evening, artistic expression will unfold across MAD Arts, a state-of-the-art museum known for blending digital innovation, technology and experiential art.
Guests can expect an interactive painting experience, custom-written poetry, a live harpist, a fashion show, pop-up theatrical performances, live music, and artistic surprises that celebrate the many ways creativity connects and inspires.
“To the Nines celebrates what becomes possible when we create space for artists, young people, and communities to experience the arts’ power,” said Darius Daughtry, founder and executive artistic director of Art Prevails Project. “We want people to walk into MAD Arts, be surrounded by creativity, and understand that their support makes this work possible throughout the year.”
For the Art Prevails Project, the fundraiser is more than a single evening. It is an investment in work at the intersection of the arts, education and community.
Through the literary and performing arts, the organization creates opportunities for young people and adults to discover their voices, experience culturally relevant programming, and connect through storytelling and performance.
Its work includes:
<ul>
<li>Arts education: Bringing teaching artists and creative programming into schools and classrooms, providing students with opportunities to write, perform, explore, and express themselves.</li>
<li>Our Voices: Creating literary experiences that elevate storytelling, poetry, and spoken word while amplifying community voices.</li>
<li>Live performances: Producing culturally relevant theatrical, musical, poetic, and multidisciplinary experiences.</li>
<li>Artist opportunities: Providing platforms for poets, actors, musicians, dancers, writers and other creatives to develop and share their work.</li>
<li>Community engagement: Using performance and education to create spaces where people can see themselves and their experiences reflected in the art.</li>
</ul>
At the center of that work is a simple belief: everyone deserves access to the arts and the opportunity to discover their own creative voice.
As arts and cultural organizations navigate an increasingly uncertain funding environment, community support is critical to sustaining programs that reach students, employ artists, and make arts experiences accessible.
“The need for creative spaces isn’t disappearing,” Daughtry said. “Our communities need places where young people discover that their stories matter, where artists can create, and where people can come together and see themselves reflected. Every ticket, sponsorship, and contribution through To the Nines helps us continue that work.”
Rather than a traditional gala, To the Nines is designed as an experience in motion, with guests discovering performances, installations and artistic encounters throughout the evening. MAD Arts’ fusion of art, technology and immersive environments provides a fitting backdrop for experiences inspired by the nine muses, traditionally associated with poetry, music, dance, history, comedy, tragedy and other forms of artistic expression.
Proceeds will support the Art Prevails Project’s arts education, literary arts, live performance, artist development and community programming. Individuals, corporations, foundations and community partners are invited to participate through sponsorships, ticket purchases, contributions and donations of auction items or experiences.
