Progress report: Video shows ongoing demolition of Fort Myers Beach pier (news-press.com) — Demolition of the damaged Fort Myers Beach pier is well underway, clearing the way for a longer, wider concrete pier that will stretch 1,000 feet into the Gulf. Lee County says pile driving for the new structure will start soon, promising more space for fishing, sunset views, and strolls for Fort Myers-area residents and visitors by next summer.

Missing 9-year-old found safe in North Fort Myers after search (abc-7.com) — A 9-year-old boy reported missing in North Fort Myers has been found safe after Lee County deputies searched the Monte Isola Way area Friday morning. Deputies had canvassed the neighborhood and asked residents for tips before confirming the child's recovery, offering reassurance to nearby Fort Myers families concerned about the incident.

Game balls for SW Florida high school football top Week 6 performers (news-press.com) — High school football fans in Fort Myers will want to know Dunbar routed Fort Myers 48-7 and Port Charlotte beat South Fort Myers, with several local players earning standout "Game Ball" honors.
