CareerSource NEFL Holds Apprenticeship-Focused Recruitment Wednesday on April 29

Job seekers can explore earn-as-you-learn opportunities with several employers at an apprenticeship-focused the CareerSource Northeast Florida (CareerSource NEFL) Recruitment Wednesday Job Fair from 10 a.m. to noon April 29 at the Southside Career Center, located at 11268 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville.

Employers scheduled to participate include Apprentice Florida (representing multiple employers), Electrical Training Alliance of Jacksonville, Prosperity Childcare Training Network, A/C Designs, Betros Plumbing and Whataburger.

According to the Florida Department of Education's 2024-2025 Apprenticeship Report, the state achieved record growth with 43 new programs added (344 total programs statewide) and 6,487 new apprentices registered, totaling 20,395 in Florida. Apprentices earned an average exit wage of $27.91 per hour – which equates to an annual salary of about $58,000.

Apprenticeships are becoming more popular with job seekers as well, especially those graduating from high school…who can avoid student debt while earning high wages.

This special hiring event rounds out CareerSource NEFL activities to highlight National Apprenticeship Week from April 29 – May 2. Earlier this month, CareerSource NEFL took part in an interactive workshop, panel discussion and question-and-answer session about apprenticeships at Ring Power Corporation headquarters in St. Augustine.
