To coincide with National Second Chance Month in April, nearly 25 employers are taking part in the CareerSource Northeast Florida (CareerSource NEFL) in-person Second Chance Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 at the Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Advanced Technology Center, located at 401 W. State St. in downtown Jacksonville.
“Second Chance Month underscores the importance of helping people who have been involved in the justice system to redefine themselves and contribute to our community and the economy,” said CareerSource NEFL President Cheryl Taylor. “We are proud to help those who have been incarcerated transition back into the job market…not only during this event, but throughout the year.”
For those who need help creating a resume, CareerSource NEFL will also offer one-on-one resume assistance one hour prior to the event (9 to 10 a.m.) – and job seekers can visit any CareerSource NEFL Career Center prior to the event for resume help.CareerSource NEFL representatives will also have a raffle for gift cards for those who need clothing, along with two bikes to help those who can use it for short-range transportation. 
Although the event focuses on assisting those with background issues that pose a challenge to their employment, it is open to all job seekers.

Every year, more than 30,000 people are released from Florida prisons and face challenges when they attempt to reenter the workforce. Second chance workshops and job fairs help these men and women overcome barriers to employment to gain employment in Northeast Florida.

Job seekers can explore earn-as-you-learn opportunities with several employers at an apprenticeship-focused the CareerSource Northeast Florida (CareerSource NEFL) Recruitment Wednesday Job Fair from 10 a.m. to noon April 29 at the Southside Career Center, located at 11268 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville.
Employers scheduled to participate include Apprentice Florida (representing multiple employers), Electrical Training Alliance of Jacksonville, Prosperity Childcare Training Network, A/C Designs, Betros Plumbing and Whataburger.
Job seekers can receive one-on-one resume reviews from CareerSource NEFL staff duringthe event. They are also encouraged to create a profile on <a href="https://www.employflorida.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">www.employflorida.com</a>

According to the Florida Department of Education's 2024-2025 Apprenticeship Report, the state achieved record growth with 43 new programs added (344 total programs statewide) and 6,487 new apprentices registered, totaling 20,395 in Florida. This special hiring event rounds out CareerSource NEFL activities to highlight National Apprenticeship Week from April 29 – May 2. Earlier this month, CareerSource NEFL took part in an interactive workshop, panel discussion and question-and-answer session about apprenticeships at Ring Power Corporation headquarters in St. Augustine.
