Hurricane Irma Aftermath: Duval County Schools Reopening
BREAKING: The district said it is also mulling over possible "makeup days."

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Students in Duval County Public Schools better sharpen their pencils, finish their procrastinated homework assignments and set their alarms because school is back in session.
The district announced on its website Friday afternoon that schools and district offices will be resume as normal Monday. Middle and high school students will follow an A day schedule.
The decision followed a "thorough inspection" of the school buildings, the district said.

"We understand many families are still working to recover from Hurricane Irma and know that schools may be the safest place for students during this time," officials said.

Much to the chagrin of many students, the district said it is also mulling "makeup days."
"We thank all DCPS staff who worked tirelessly around the clock to help support hurricane shelters and get our schools up and running as quickly as possible,"
Duval County schools also have an updated football schedule with new dates for games that were canceled due to Irma. Several of the games are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
