1. Jacksonville city council committee advances e-bike safety ordinance limiting sidewalk speeds (news4jax.com) — Jacksonville's Rules Committee has advanced an e-bike safety ordinance that would cap sidewalk and shared-path speeds at 15 mph and require local retailers to post safety information within 60 days of passage. The proposal, driven by rising e-bike injuries, also gives Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officers discretion to cite unsafe riders and could lead to new speed-limit signage at city entry points before the holiday shopping season.

2. 'A destination place': Arlington councilman, former shoppers welcome Regency Square Mall's new chapter (news4jax.com) — Demolition is underway at Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville, clearing the way for a new mixed-use development called Nexus at Regency with shops, housing, and commercial space. City Councilman Ken Amaro says the project could become an economic engine for the Monument and Atlantic boulevards corridor, with visible new construction expected within about 18 months.

3. Sleiman Enterprises advances West Jacksonville shopping center (jaxdailyrecord.com) — A major new shopping center, Chaffee Square, is moving forward in West Jacksonville at Normandy Boulevard and Chaffee Road South, with utilities and site work already permitted. Plans call for multiple restaurants, a gas station, bank, self-storage and more than 60,000 square feet of retail, with completion projected by 2030 near existing Publix-anchored shopping options.

4. University of Florida Opens Downtown Jacksonville Campus (thecapitolist.com) — Downtown Jacksonville now hosts a new University of Florida campus offering graduate programs in fields like AI, cybersecurity, business, law and health sciences. Backed by about $300 million from city, state and private partners, UF Jacksonville will also house a national security-focused research lab and aims to boost local workforce development and the downtown economy.

5. Cafecito to expand from Riverside to Downtown's Bellwether (jaxdailyrecord.com) — A popular Riverside coffee shop, Cafecito, is set to become the primary breakfast and coffee spot inside the revived Bellwether restaurant in Downtown Jacksonville. Backed by a nearly $199,000 forgivable loan from the Downtown Investment Authority, the project promises new morning options, an elevated bar program, and additional dining concepts in a historic Forsyth Street building.
