• Infant left unresponsive after daycare worker allegedly abused the baby several times causing serious injuries (wtrf.com) — Lake City police arrested a Wee Care Too daycare worker after an infant was found unresponsive and investigators say surveillance video showed repeated physical abuse. The child was rushed to the hospital, the employee has been fired, and detectives are still asking anyone with information to contact Lake City Police or Columbia County Crime Stoppers.
   

• Lake City not issuing permits for fireworks tents, suggests no fireworks sales due to drought (actionnewsjax.com) — Lake City’s fire inspector has halted all permits for fireworks tents and is urging against any fireworks sales inside city limits because of extreme drought and wildfire risk. These restrictions will stay in place until enough rain falls for officials to safely lift the countywide burn ban.
