Secret State Miniseries - Fictional TV Series Shed Light on Reality
Four-part political thriller stars Gabriel Byrne, Charles Dance & Gina McKee probes democracy, big business, military-industrial-spy complex
"International Emmy Award Nominee" - Secret State. Yours truly loves a good story that is well told. According to Amazon-linked IMDb: “Secret State explores the relationship between a democratically elected government, big business and the banks.” Per left-leaning Wikipedia: "Secret State is a 2012 British four-part political thriller, starring Gabriel Byrne, Charles Dance and Gina McKee, and inspired by Chris Mullin's 1982 novel A Very British Coup. It delves into the relationship between a democratically elected government, the military and big business." That should snapshot should have added that the media is part of the plot too.
The four-party mini-series is currently available free on Tubi, which is often found on smart TVs. When I'm not doing research, spending time on faith, family, flag, at the end of the day, I may be watching some video, same as many of my neighbors do. Every time I've watched Secret State, I see something new and interesting. The language is R rated, and the themes are mature, but there are no sex scenes.

That said, I'm recommending watching it. Why? Because "the first of [Edward] Snowden's documents [about the U.S. NSA scandal] were published on June 5, 2013..." Meaning, before Snowden made several of these topics a hot button issue in the U.S., Secret State had explored similar issues via a fictional story. This is not only good story telling, but it is also educational. For those who may or may not completely grasp how a rigged system works, this miniseries lays it out quite well in a British setting.
