Tropic Air Charters Announces Acquisition of Two Tecnam P2012 Traveller Aircraft

Tropic Air Charters announced the acquisition of two new Tecnam P2012 Traveller aircraft, marking a significant investment in the company's private charter operations and reinforcing its commitment to providing premium air service between South Florida and the Bahamas.

The first Tecnam P2012 Traveller is expected to join the company's fleet in the coming months ahead of the peak Caribbean travel season, with the second aircraft to follow. The acquisition marks the beginning of Tropic Air Charters' transition from its legacy Britten-Norman fleet to the next generation of aircraft designed specifically for regional island operations.

In addition to Tropic Air Charters, the company's aviation operations include Tropic Air Rescue, the first FAA-certified helicopter air ambulance dedicated to serving the Bahamas and Florida. Together, the two operations reflect Tropic Air's commitment to delivering safe, reliable aviation services throughout the region, from luxury private charter flights to critical care emergency medical transport.

Purpose-built for short-haul regional travel, the Tecnam P2012 Traveller combines modern passenger comfort with advanced technology and operational performance. The twin-engine aircraft features a spacious, air-conditioned cabin with premium interiors, USB charging ports and expansive windows, while its advanced avionics and twin-engine redundancy enhance reliability for over-water operations. Its short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities also allow the aircraft to efficiently access many of the shorter runways found throughout the Bahamas.

"Our mission has always been to provide exceptional, seamless travel experiences for our clients heading to the Bahamas," said Anthony Marinello, president of Tropic Air Charters. "The Tecnam P2012 Traveller allows us to elevate every aspect of that experience. From enhanced passenger comfort and modern amenities to advanced safety features and improved operational capabilities, these aircraft represent the future of regional travel and reflect our ongoing commitment to providing best-in-class service."

The acquisition represents a significant milestone for the Fort Lauderdale-based company, which has built its reputation on providing reliable private charter service connecting South Florida with destinations throughout the Bahamas. By modernizing its fleet with the Tecnam P2012 Traveller, Tropic Air Charters is enhancing its ability to meet the evolving needs of leisure travelers, business executives, second-home owners and yacht owners seeking convenient access to the islands.

“We are delighted to welcome Tropic Air Charters to the Tecnam family,” adds Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 special mission platforms sales and business development manager. “The P2012 was designed precisely for this kind of demanding, high-frequency, island-hopping environment. Seeing operators like Tropic Air choose the P2012 to replace older legacy fleets is a testament to the aircraft’s superior economics, performance and passenger appeal. We are excited to see these beautiful aircraft flying the skies between Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas.”

The Tecnam P2012 Traveller was specifically engineered for regional airline and charter operations, offering operators exceptional versatility while providing passengers with a comfortable, modern flying experience. Its combination of twin-engine reliability, advanced flight systems and ability to operate from shorter runways makes it ideally suited for the unique demands of Caribbean travel.
