Here are the top stories today in Miami:
1. Miami-Dade Police Department has a South Florida man in custody after he barricaded himself, armed with a shotgun and allegedly made threats on Monday morning. The suspect is a 77-year-old veteran and called fire rescue distressed. (WSVN)
2. The Village (Free)dge, a popular food pantry in Miami, is likely closing for good due to a lack of donations. The pantry provides meals six days a week and stocks a fridge on 7th avenue in front of Roots Collective for anyone in need. (WPLG Local 10])
3. Early voting is now underway in Miami-Dade. Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez, a resident of southwest Miami-Dade, joined in the process on Monday. The deadline to return mail-in ballots for Miami-Dade is 7 p.m. on Election Day for them to be counted. (NBC Miami)
4. North Miami Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime is running for District 2 on the Miami-Dade County Commission and has fundraised almost $100,000 in donations from real estate businesses. Commissioner Jean Monestime must vacate the seat due to term limits. (Florida Politics)
5. Daylet Uribazo-Hernandez, 23, has been arrested following a townhouse fire in southwest Miami-Dade just before 11:40 a.m. on Friday at 27102 SW 127th Avenue. Uribazo-Hernandez faces charges of arson and burglary. (WPLG Local 10)

- Miami-Dade County has completed an environmental study for a rapid transit connection between downtown Miami and Miami Beach. The county currently plans to connect a monorail to Miami Beach. (The Next Miami)
- Miami New Times is celebrating the NFL suspension of team owner Stephen Ross from the Miami Dolphins through October 17. They argue it may even be worth the loss in draft picks. (Miami New Times)
- The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health has announced its complete roster of over 140 players, staff and competition details ahead of the 2022-23 season. (Inter Miami CF)
- Hospitality expert Steve Turk has launched Biscayne Coffee. 10% of all Biscayne Coffee sales will be donated to the Biscayne Bay Foundation, a non-profit organization based in South Florida, whose mission is to increase awareness of the health, safety, and sustainability of waterways on Biscayne Bay.
