FL Mom In Hitman-For-Hire Plot Targeting Toddler Son Sentenced: Reports

A FL mother visited a parody website in search of a hitman who could kill her 3-year-old son, providing photos and addresses, reports say.

MIAMI, FL — A Miami mother accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her 3-year-old son will not go to jail after pleading guilty to a charge of soliciting first-degree murder, media reports say.

Instead, 20-year-old Jazmin Paez on Monday avoided up to 40 years in prison and was sentenced to 12 years of reporting probation, mandatory behavioral therapy and two years of community control, NBC Miami reported.

This comes after she additionally pled guilty to unlawful use of a communications device and tampering with evidence, according to the news outlet.

Paez was arrested in July 2023 after being accused of visiting the parody website, rentahitman.com, in search of a hitman to kill her son, NBC Miami said.

At the time, Paez was a teenage mother, and her son may have been born out of incest since Paez's parents are both his paternal and maternal grandparents, Court TV reported.

Paez began dating another teenager who broke up with her when she told him she had a child, the news outlet reported. Reportedly, she was told if she wanted to be with the boy, she had to "get rid of the child."

While on rentahitman.com, she shared photos of her son and the place where he could be located, NBC Miami reported.

The site's owners, based in California, notified Florida authorities after receiving the message, reports say.

“The ability to research names and addresses and verify the intended target lived at a particular address — that to me is a red flag,” site owner Robert Innes told NBC Miami. “If that information is corroborated, that is something that needs to be looked at, and that’s why I referred it.”

After she negotiated a plea deal, which Eleventh Judicial Circuit Judge Carlos Gamez questioned, Paez's ability to successfully graduate high school and work toward an associate's degree in science became a factor in her sentencing, Court TV reported.

In addition to probation and other requirements, Paez reportedly cannot contact her son until 2040, when her probation is completed.

Her son is reportedly in the care of her mother.
