PARKLAND, FL — Students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where 17 people were slain in a mass shooting last week, are organizing marches next month to call on lawmakers to enact stricter gun control.
Five students announced on Sunday the "March for Our Lives" event, slated for March 24.
"Today I'd like to announce that we have an event coming up to have everybody in the nation talk about what we're talking about," student Cameron Kasky told Fox News host Chris Wallace on Sunday. "One of the things that we've been hearing is that it's not the time yet to talk about gun control, and we respect that. We've lost 17 lives and our community took 17 bullets to the heart. And it's difficult to come back from that."

Kasky said people should expect to see them a lot and encouraged viewers to go to MarchForOurLives.com for details of the event.
"The march is going to be in every major city," he said. "We are organizing it so that students everywhere can beg for our lives."

At the end of the day, he said, this isn't about red or blue or Republicans versus democrats — this is about adults and kids.
"And at this point you're either with us or against us," he said. "We're giving all of our politicians a clean slate and in the next election we are saying if you are accepting money from the [National Rifle Association] there is a badge of shame on you. Because you are enabling things like this to happen.
According to the website, kids and families will take to the streets of Washington, D.C. to demand their lives and safety are a top priority of congress and to call for ending mass school shootings.
