Man Taken Into Custody After Stowing Away On Miami-Bound Flight From Guatemala: Report
A 26-year-old man who stowed away in the landing gear of an American Airlines flight Saturday morning was taken into custody, reports said.
MIAMI, FL — A stowaway was taken into custody after hiding in the landing gear of a Miami-bound American Airlines flight from Guatemala.
American Airlines flight 1182 left from Guatemala CitySaturday morning and landed at Miami International Airport at 10:06 a.m., Local 10 News reported.
The flight from Guatemala to Miami was about two hours and fifty minutes long, officials at MIA told the Miami Herald.

The 26-year-old was taken into custody by Customs and Border Protection and brought to a local hospital for evaluation, the Herald reported.
“Persons are taking extreme riskswhen they try to conceal themselves in confined spaces such as an aircraft,” the agency said in a statement. “This incident remains under investigation.”

A video shared by the Only in Dade Facebook page shows the man being apprehended by authorities at Miami International Airport Saturday after the flight landed.
