• A Publix and a Circle K sold big lottery hits on a Powerball, Fantasy 5 Monday (miamiherald.com) — A Fantasy 5 ticket sold at the Circle K on County Road 220 in the Middleburg area hit big Monday night, earning its holder $51,487 before taxes. The winning numbers were shared with another ticket sold near Tampa, and both winners will need to visit a Florida Lottery district office to claim their prizes. Powerball and other jackpots are also climbing this week. 
• He told a woman he met on eHarmony that he needed money for medical bills. Now, he's accused of stealing $62K (news4jax.com) — A 55-year-old Middleburg man is accused of using a fake name on eHarmony to convince a woman to send more than $62,000, allegedly routing her checks through a business account he controlled. Clay County investigators say similar tactics appeared in an Arizona case, and traced the money to accounts at a Jacksonville credit union. He was arrested Oct. 22 on a first-degree felony fraud charge.
• Florida teen plunges 13 feet into ocean when loose jetty grate falls (floridatoday.com) — A 16-year-old from Middleburg fell nearly 13 feet into the ocean when a loose metal grate gave way on the Sebastian Inlet State Park jetty, but he managed to ride the current to safety with help from friends. The teen described hitting pylons and suffering back and neck pain, while his companions criticized the pier’s condition. State park officials have not yet responded to questions about the jetty’s safety.
