New Port Richey Man Who Threatened Federal Officials Sentenced: U.S. DOJ
A 79-year-old New Port Richey man was sentenced to prison for threatening to kill multiple federal officials, the U.S. DOJ said.
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A New Port Richey man who pleaded guilty on Dec. 22 to interstate transmission of threats to kill multiple federal officials has been sentenced, the U.S Department of Justice said in a news release.
Benjamin Rubin, 79, will spend one year in federal prison.
In February 2025, Rubin posted about his frustrations on social media.

As his frustrations grew, they became more violent, and he began threatening to injure and kill U.S. officials and political figures, the DOJ said.
On Feb. 20, 2025, Rubin posted that the head of a federal law enforcement agency “will be assassinated,” according to the department.

Two days later, Rubin posted, “I shot my TV when [U.S. cabinet member] appeared in an ad on illegals. Next time I see her in person the shots will be for her.”
