• Donations being accepted for firefighters battling Clay County blaze (wape.com) — If you want to help firefighters and evacuees, you can drop off water, snacks, and drinks right here at Orange Park Town Hall or at the Clay County Fairgrounds. The donation drive runs Tuesdays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and organizers may extend it as wildfires continue to affect parts of Clay County.
   

• U.S. Highway 17 closed at Clay-Putnam County line as 3,000 acres burn (claytodayonline.com) — A fast-growing wildfire has closed U.S. 17 at the Clay-Putnam County line and remains less than 5% contained, while Clay County’s burn ban now makes most outdoor burning a citable offense outside city limits, including around Orange Park. Residents are urged to follow the restrictions, watch for smoky travel conditions between Green Cove Springs and Palatka, and use the county’s call center for non-emergencies.
