Man Dies After Falling From Walt Disney World Hotel Balcony

Orange County authorities were called to Disney's Contemporary Resort early Wednesday where they found the unresponsive man.

ORLANDO, FL — A Wisconsin man died this week after authorities said he fell from a balcony at Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort.

Deputies were called to the resort shortly after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday and found the unresponsive man on hotel grounds, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a statement to Patch. He died at the scene, authorities said.

The Orange County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 39-year-old Jeffery Vanden Boom from Greendale, Wisconsin. His death was ruled accidental.

No other details were immediately available.

Vanden Boom's death comes less than a year after a Florida man died after a possible heart attack while riding the PeopleMover at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.

Joseph Masters, 83, of Palm Coast, died Sept. 25 while he and his wife were riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority's PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom, Orange County authorities said in an incident report. Masters fainted during the ride, his wife told police, prompting her to ask for help.

Masters was taken to Celebration Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
