Macy's To Close 10 Stores Next Month: Will FL Be Included?
In 2021, Macy's closed two stores in Florida. The chain plans more closures in January; will Florida sites remain open?

FLORIDA — Macy's department store announced in November it will close 10 stores nationwide in January 2022, while the retailer delays closing about 60 other stores on a shutdown list, according to CNBC.
These 10 stores are part of the 125 Macy's stores total the company already announced it plans to shutter by 2023; 65 of those stores already closed. The big-box giant has not yet said where the 10 stores slated to be shuttered are located, which raises questions about the fate of the locations in Florida.
The most recent Macy's store closings in Florida were the chain's locations in Daytona Beach and Port Charlotte that shuttered in early 2021, according to USA Today.

Macy's said it is reconsidering when it will close the remaining 60 stores because online sales do better in areas where there is a physical Macy's store.

"The delayed closure of certain stores allows us to maintain a physical presence in the market, which is critical to our top line growth," said Macy's Chief Financial Officer Adrian Mitchell, according to CNBC. "Digital performance is stronger in the markets where we have stores."
