Second Child Dies Days After Rowboat Capsizes On Orlando Lake
Both fatalities happened after lightning struck an area near where the children were practicing.

ORLANDO, FL — A second child has died more than 10 days after a rowing club’s boat capsized on an Orlando lake when lightning struck the area where they were practicing, according to North Orlando Rowing.
"It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of a second rower involved in last Thursday’s weather-related tragedy," the organization said Saturday night on Facebook. "The NOR community is devastated and continues to focus on supporting our affected families and our entire NOR team during this difficult time."
The incident occurred Sept. 15 just before 6 p.m. as a group of middle schoolers practiced near North Orlando Rowing Complex on Lake Fairview. Three children were returned to their parents and one was taken to the hospital for treatment, authorities said.
