In a difficult economy, many graduates return to their childhood homes looking for work.
"The convention has meant a few customers but not much," said Jason Mitow, Marketing Manager at the Lucky Dill Deli, one of Palm Harbor's most popular restaurants.
"Spending at the hotel was right on target, as anticipated," said Innisbrook spokesperson Ramona Hurley.
Jacquie MacDonald rented out the kitchen of Sweet Caroline's bakery in Palm Harbor, so she and her team could fulfill a large order of more than 15,000 baked items for the Republican National Convention.
The conceptual plan for 138 upscale apartments along with two restaurants and retail stores for the downtown Gateway tract in Dunedin was approved by city commissioners on Thursday.
Donuts, patriotic golf shorts and breakfast specials are some of the things that local businesses in Palm Harbor are featuring, with the hope that Republican National Convention delegates will stop in and spend some money.
