• Great white shark has been hanging out near the Florida panhandle (newsherald.com) — A 10-foot white shark named Bella has recently been tracked swimming off Panama City Beach and nearby Gulf County, but experts say beachgoers are still very unlikely to encounter her. Researchers explain that white sharks are more common in the Panhandle than once believed, yet remain mostly offshore and focused on natural prey, with no documented great white attacks in the Gulf of Mexico.

• Panhandle Hurricanes claim cheer, tumble championship in Orlando (newsherald.com) — A Panama City Beach cheer squad just brought home a world title, as the Panhandle Hurricanes Allstar Cheer & Tumble “Sirens” captured gold at the Allstar World Championship in Orlando. Three other Hurricanes teams also reached the finals, capping a milestone trip for this small but ambitious local program.
