2. Broward School Board repays Parkland $850,000 related to never-opened school (sun-sentinel.com) — Parkland is set to receive an $850,000 refund from Broward Schools for money the city contributed toward a never-built elementary school on University Drive, after years of uncertainty. While Parkland originally sought up to $2 million, local officials, including Mayor Rich Walker and School Board member Lori Alhadeff, say the compromise still benefits the city and could ultimately support Parkland students and community priorities.

5. Ashley Cooke announces pop-up tour ahead of sophomore album release (newmusicweekly.com) — Country artist Ashley Cooke is bringing a special acoustic stop of her "Cities That Made Me" pop-up tour to Parkland, one of the Florida cities where she once lived. The intimate show will coincide with the August release of her self-titled sophomore album and include stripped-down performances, meet-and-greets, and exclusive merch before she launches a larger world tour.
