Broward School District Looks for Input on 2028-29 School Calendar (tapinto.net) — Parkland families can now help shape Broward County's 2028–29 school calendar by weighing in through an online survey open until Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. Students, parents, staff, and community members are asked to review proposed options and choose what best balances instructional time, learning, and family needs, giving Parkland residents a direct voice in next decade's schedule.
   

2. Broward School Board repays Parkland $850,000 related to never-opened school (sun-sentinel.com) — Parkland is set to receive an $850,000 refund from Broward Schools for money the city contributed toward a never-built elementary school on University Drive, after years of uncertainty. While Parkland originally sought up to $2 million, local officials, including Mayor Rich Walker and School Board member Lori Alhadeff, say the compromise still benefits the city and could ultimately support Parkland students and community priorities.
   

3. Parkland Basketball Club Opens Registration for 2026-2027 Season (parklandtalk.com) — Parkland families can now register kids from kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2026-2027 Parkland Basketball Club season, with guaranteed spots for those who sign up by October 31. Games will be played mainly at Pine Trails Park and Terramar Park, and the season follows the Broward school calendar, ending with playoffs, championships, and a community picnic and All-Star Game.
   

4. Bicycle Stolen From Front Porch (parklandtalk.com) — Parkland residents are being alerted to several recent incidents, including a $300 bicycle theft from a Parkland apartment porch and a stolen package, along with identity theft and domestic disturbance calls. Deputies also documented concerns about social media posts, derogatory comments near a local Chabad, and an AI-generated post referencing Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, while reporting no arrests during the week.
   

5. Ashley Cooke announces pop-up tour ahead of sophomore album release (newmusicweekly.com) — Country artist Ashley Cooke is bringing a special acoustic stop of her "Cities That Made Me" pop-up tour to Parkland, one of the Florida cities where she once lived. The intimate show will coincide with the August release of her self-titled sophomore album and include stripped-down performances, meet-and-greets, and exclusive merch before she launches a larger world tour.
