Escambia County Government: Residents Encouraged To Monitor Flash Flood Warnings Through Wednesday, Oct. 6

The National Weather Service in Mobile has forecasted a multi-day significant rainfall with the possibility of flash flooding extending into Wednesday, Oct. 6. Residents are encouraged to avoid flooded roadways when driving.

"The flooding could be significant over the Northwest Florida Panhandle and Baldwin County, AL," said Escambia County Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore. "Currently, the back edge of a large area of rain is east of the Northwest Florida Panhandle. Escambia County can expect another round of rain to form over the eastern portion of the county by Tuesday afternoon."

Currently, it is projected the counties east of Camden, AL to Escambia County are most at risk for additional heavy rainfall and subsequent flash flooding.

Escambia County has opened all eight sand locations throughout the county. The sand is available on a first come, first served basis. Residents must bring their own sandbags and shovels to one of the following locations (map):

  • Baars Field Athletic Park - 13001 Sorrento Road, Pensacola
  • Brent Athletic Park - 4711 N. W St., Pensacola
  • Don Sutton Park - 2320 Crabtree Church Road, Molino
  • Equestrian Center - 7750 Mobile Highway, Pensacola
  • Escambia County Road Department - 601 Highway 297-A, Pensacola 
  • Ferry Pass Middle School - 8355 Yancey Lane, Pensacola, (sand will be on the northwest corner of school property on Parazine Street)
  • John R. Jones Jr. Athletic Park - 555 E. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola
  • Travis M. Nelson Park -  4541 County Road 4, Pensacola
