Airman Found Dead In Burned Car Near FL Air Force Base Identified: Officials

OKALOOSA COUNTY, FL — The U.S. Air Force has identified a 26-year-old airman whose body was found in a burned car near Eglin Air Force Base, military officials said.

The burned vehicle was found at Range Road 234 and Lewis Turner Boulevard.

The victim, Senior Airman Tamera Moniq Bolden-Cleckley, of Boerne, Texas, was assigned to the 96th Surgical Operations Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, according to a news release from the base.

An Eglin employee found the car on the morning of Sept. 23 and notified law enforcement. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and 96th Security Forces Squadron responded to the scene, which was then turned over to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

The intersection of Range Road 234 and Lewis Turner Boulevard isn’t located on Eglin Air Force Base's main installation, the base said. However, it’s part of the Eglin Test and Training Range Complex, which is Department of the Air Force federal property.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the loss of Senior Airman Bolden-Cleckley, one of our teammates. During this incredibly difficult time, I want to extend my deepest condolences to Tamera’s family, friends, and all those who knew and cared for her,” said Col. Daniel Micsunescu, commander of the 96th Test Wing, said in a statement.

Bolden-Cleckley entered the Air Force in 2021 and worked as a diagnostic imaging specialist, or radiology technician, with the surgical squadron.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations continues to investigate the incident.
