Fishing Charter Found U.S. Military Drone In FL Waters (patch.com) — Pensacola anglers with Hot Spots Charters hauled in more than fish when they discovered a U.S. military drone floating offshore near Eglin Air Force Base. Authorities quickly retrieved the device, which resembles an Iranian-style Shahed-136, while base officials acknowledged losing a drone during testing but stopped short of confirming it was the same one. 
2. ECUA to replace 24-inch force main on Monteigne Drive; project to last 3 months (weartv.com) — Pensacola residents near Monteigne Drive should prepare for three months of construction as ECUA replaces a 24-inch sewer force main from Bay Cliff Estates Park to Scenic Highway starting the week of October 12. Work will involve road cuts and trenching but is not expected to interrupt water or sewer service, and any brief outages will come with individual notice and full restoration afterward.
3. FDOT launches drainage study after Palafox flooding, will compare findings with the city (weartv.com) — After recent flooding on Palafox Street, state transportation officials have launched a drainage study of the Garden Street pipe that carries water from downtown Pensacola. FDOT and the city will each review their systems, compare findings, and decide if upgrades are needed to move stormwater away from this busy block more quickly during intense rains.
4. Angel assistant principal earns national DoD Starbase recognition in Washington, D.C. (weartv.com) — Pensacola assistant principal Tasheba Sheppard of Escambia Westgate School has earned national Department of Defense Starbase recognition in Washington, D.C. for championing STEM opportunities for local students. Colleagues praise her hands-on support for children facing tough circumstances, from securing basic necessities to opening doors to programs like Starbase Pensacola that expand their view of the world and beyond.
