1. Pensacola could permanently change downtown parade routes. You can weigh in. (pnj.com) — Downtown Pensacola's parade routes, including Mardi Gras and the Christmas parade, could permanently shift from Palafox to Jefferson Street, and local input will guide the decision. The Downtown Improvement Board is surveying businesses and will hold a Sept. 29 public meeting before recommending a plan to the mayor, who says he'll follow what downtown stakeholders prefer.
   

2. Pensacola Interstate Fair announces new CEO ahead of 91st annual event (wkrg.com) — Pensacola residents will see new leadership at the Pensacola Interstate Fair as retired Navy Capt. Gilbert Clark Jr. steps in as CEO ahead of the 91st annual event. Organizers plan to expand agricultural education while keeping the fair's traditional fun, running Oct. 22 through Nov. 1 at the local fairgrounds.
   

3. City gives in-depth analysis of Saturday rainfall impacts in Downtown Pensacola (weartv.com) — Downtown Pensacola saw brief but intense flooding Saturday when a 500‑year rainfall event dropped 1.7 inches in 30 minutes along Palafox Street, though no businesses reported water intrusion. City engineers explain why one block briefly flooded, compare the storm's intensity to Hurricane Sally, and say they'll work with FDOT to improve the Garden and Palafox chokepoint.
   

4. Move-ins paused as Pensacola pallet shelters get windows up to hurricane code (weartv.com) — Move-ins at Pensacola's new pallet shelter village are temporarily paused while ReEntry Alliance Pensacola upgrades windows to meet Escambia County hurricane codes. The city's 27 shelters, only five of which are currently occupied, should receive anchors and protective fabric within about two days so more unhoused residents can move in safely.
   

5. Booker T. Washington and Gulf Breeze high schools win $5,000 each in T-Mobile contest (weartv.com) — Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola has already secured $5,000 from T-Mobile's "Friday Night 5G Light" contest to improve its sports facilities, alongside Gulf Breeze High. More Florida and Baldwin County schools are in the running for larger prizes, with public voting rounds in October that could bring tens of thousands more to local stadiums.
