Girl, 9, Bitten By Dog At Suncoast Humane Society, Airlifted To Hospital: Reports
The girl suffered face and leg injuries when she was bitten by a dog that her family was meeting at Suncoast Humane Society in Englewood.
ENGLEWOOD, FL — A 9-year-old girl bitten by a dog at the Suncoast Humane Society campus in Englewood on Wednesday was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, according to multiple reports.
The Englewood Area Fire Control District, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, and Charlotte County Fire & EMS, and Aeromed responded to the facility to assist with the dog bite, WFLA said.
Suncoast Humane Society told WINK the girl was at the facility meeting the dog with her mother and sibling when the bite happened.

The girl suffered injuries to her face and leg, Gulf Coast News Now reported
In addition to treating the girl and clearing a landing zone for the medical flight, first responders also offered comfort to her family after the dog bite.

“While the flight crew cared for their patient, Captain Jacobs offered comfort and support by leading a prayer with the child’s mother and our crew,” the district told news outlets. “Moments like these remind us how powerful compassion and teamwork can be.”
