Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Van Near Nokomis: FL Troopers

A motorcyclist died after being hit by a van at an intersection near Nokomis, Florida Highway Patrol said.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist was killed in a Tuesday evening crash with a van near Nokomis, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The van was stopped in the left turn lane of En Theos Lane at the intersection of State Road 681 around 6:30 p.m.

At the same time, the motorcyclist was heading south, approaching a yellow flashing traffic light on S.R. 681 at the same intersection.

The van drove into the intersection in front of the approaching motorcyclist and hit him, FHP said.

The rider, a 25-year-old from an unknown Florida city, was pronounced dead at the scene, the agency said.

The van’s driver, a 32-year-old Cape Coral man, was uninjured in the crash, which is under investigation.
