Officials told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that “all persons are accounted for,” including the suspect. There were no survivors.
Authorities had been called to the house twice, prior to the shooting, for two separate incidents, reports said.
Neighbor Jeff Boland, who lives down the street, told Bay News 9 that he was surprised by the law enforcement presence in the area.
"I feel horrible for the family or anybody else that's concerned with it," he said. "This is totally not normal for this neighborhood."
Crime Scene, Forensics, Victim Advocates, Criminal Investigations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Patrol Bureau units are on scene during the ongoing investigation, SCSO said.
