'It was always in the front of my mind': Sarasota firefighters, community climb stairs to honor 9/11 victims (mysuncoast.com) — Hundreds of Sarasota-area residents and firefighters gathered at Nathan Benderson Park for the first organized 9/11 stair climb, honoring nearly 3,000 victims and 343 fallen firefighters. Participants climbed more than 200 steps at the park's tower, turning an informal annual tribute into a large, coordinated event organizers hope will become a lasting local tradition.
