FLORIDA — While some Florida pets got a raw deal this week from heartless humans, mankind also displayed a kinder, gentler side.
One of the 4,000 beagles rescued from a research facility in Cumberland, Virginia, has a new home at a Treasure Island fire station, where firefighters are doting on the regal beagle named Captain.
Meanwhile, a tiny kitten was rescued by a St. Petersburg firefighter after falling into a storm drain and Chubby Cheese the dog was reunited with his family after being missing for two years, thanks to a microchip.
