Missing Paddleboarder Found Dead Near Courtney Campbell Causeway: Tampa Police

The body of a missing paddleboarder was pulled from Old Tampa Bay, near the Courtney Campbell Causeway bridge, police said.

TAMPA, FL — The body of a missing paddleboarder was found in Old Tampa Bay near the Courtney Campbell Causeway on Monday around noon, Tampa police said in a news release.

Police were notified about the missing man by his family on Sunday, just after 9 p.m.

His family said his last known location was paddleboarding near the 7700 block of W. Courtney Campbell Causeway around on Saturday around 4 p.m., police said.

Once conditions and visibility on the water improved, Tampa police specialty units and partner agencies started a search-and-rescue operation in the area immediately on Monday morning.

Around 11 a.m., members of the Tampa Police Department’s Marine Unit found the man’s paddleboard and other property on the west side of Old Tampa Bay, police said.

His body was found by the Courtney Campbell Causeway bridge an hour later.
