Powerball Jackpot Climbs To $415 Million
A $1 million Powerball-winning ticket in Wednesday night's drawing was sold in Florida.

One lucky person in the west Miami area is $1 million richer thanks to Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, but with no jackpot numbers selected the pot has climbed to a meaty $415 million for Saturday.
The $1 million Florida ticket was sold at the 1330 Southwest 57th Ave. Mobil station, according to lottery officials. Wednesday’s numbers were 30, 47, 57, 66 and 69 with 3 as the Powerball.
The estimated jackpot for the Saturday, May 7 drawing now stands at $415 million according to lottery officials. While that’s a far cry from the $1.58 billion Powerball drawing in January that spread lottery fever like wildfire, the jackpot still adds up to a hefty amount of mad money.

The folks at USAMega.com crunched the numbers for each of the states that participate in Powerball, including Florida. With no state tax on lottery prizes, the site’s analysts say if a Floridian happens to pick Saturday night’s numbers, he or she would be $202.2 million richer if a lump sum payout were selected. The annuity payout over 30 years would net a Floridian an average of $10.3 million a year. The total payout over 30 years is estimated at $311.2 million. Remember, even though Florida doesn’t have lottery taxes, Uncle Sam will take a cut of the winnings.
While no Tampa Bay area residents scored big in Wednesday’s drawing, several area residents have earned pretty good lottery hauls in recent weeks. A 60-year-old St. Petersburg man won more than $500,000 recently courtesy of numbers given to him by a psychic. Earlier in the year, a Largo resident won $43 million, but reportedly gave it away to family. Florida's even had a dog win a $3 million lottery jackpot.
