Tampa Bay, FL – Tampa Bay area residents with big outdoor plans over the 4th of July weekend may have to dodge a few thunderstorms along the way.

According to the National Weather Service, no severe weather is anticipated over the holiday weekend. That said, however, thunderstorms are possibilities each afternoon.

The weekend kicks off Friday with a high around 90 degrees anticipated in much of the region. Storm chances are set at 30 percent in the afternoon hours and about 20 percent overnight. The nighttime low should fall into the upper 80s.

Saturday is expected to arrive with a high again near 90 degrees. Storm chances are set at 40 percent, with storms expected mainly after 11 a.m. Overnight, the low should fall into the upper 70s with a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Sunday is anticipated to bring a high just above 90 degrees to much of the Bay area with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 2 p.m. Those storm chances persist at 30 percent heading into the overnight hours when the low should only fall to about 79 degrees.

On Monday, July 4, forecasts anticipate a scorcher. The day’s high should climb to about 92 degrees in much of the region with a 40 percent chance of storms after 2 p.m. Those storm chances drop to 30 percent heading into the nighttime hours. Forecasters expect storms will clear out as the evening progresses.
